Sylvia is 1-1/2

Sylvia is 18 months old!

I asked Max what I should write, and he said, "I don't know... this is why I don't blog.... 'Here's our baby! She's a monkey.'"

Anyway, Sylvia is doing well. She's active and friendly. She laughs at the mice in Cinderella. She yells "bah" to demand that we give her a z-bar, to announce that she is throwing a ball, and to indicate her excitement at the prospect of bath time. She has started playing a game where she covers her stuffed animals with a blanket, pats them, and says "nigh nigh". She's a real little person.

I had a treatment for my kidney stones a few weeks ago and was a little out of it. It seemed to make her a little anxious and needy, but she got over it as soon as I did. Since then, though, she seems to have been a little uncomfortable and grouchy. We haven't quite figured it out yet, but she's still mostly a very sweet and pleasant little girl. Who wants few things more than to eat crayons, drink bath water, and projectile spit out actual food and drink.

Anyway, here is our baby:

She is a monkey.

52 weeks of Sylvia - just 7 1/2 months behind schedule

For Sylvia's first 6 months, we took daily pictures of her in the same chair so that we could put together a slideshow of how she changed in that time. For the following 6 months, we relaxed to taking weekly pictures.

Here I give you, weekly photos of Sylvia's first 12 months:

Quicker version (10 seconds)

Slower version (1 min)

There you have it -- only about 7 months late!

After Sylvia's first birthday, we switched to monthly photos, so maybe one day you'll get to see some of those!

How can it be?! Kurt is three!

We fell in love with him before he was born, and now Kurt is 3 years old!

Two years ago, I posted the 'Kurt Show'. Last year, I reflected on how much we missed Kurt since his parents whisked him away to Canada (here). Another year, and we find ourselves still missing him!

This is how we usually get to see him (via webcam):

We were so used to seeing him and his parents all the time, that we just couldn't stay away. We managed to get to see them a few times over the past year, and here are some of my favorite photos from those visits:

Happy Birthday, Kurt!!

We love you so much, and we hope to see you soon!
